1. In Mr. Ewen’s class, Chris caught 6 worms. Meleina caught 7 and Sam caught 5. The children put some of their worms in a big jar. The jar then had 8 worms. How many worms were not placed in the jar?

2. At an amusement park, there are 4 rides that require tickets. The Twister costs 5 tickets, The Slide costs 6, The Rocket costs 3, and The Whipper costs 4. Alex bought 15 tickets. He went on the Rocket first. Then he went on the Twister. How many tickets did he have left?
Ans: 7 tickets
3. Anthony had $600. He spent 2/5 of it on a PS3 player. He then spent 1/3 of the remaining money on a jacket. How much money did Anthony have left?
Ans: $240
4. The MathCounts club had a cupcake sale. They sold 2/3 of their cupcakes in the morning. They sold 1/6 of their cupcakes in the afternoon. They sold 200 cupcakes altogether. How many cupcakes were left to sell?
Ans: 40 cupcakes
5. The teachers went to the AIMS Conference on Monday. Mr. Little arrived early and got the Early Bird Special, $8 for parking. Mr. Doss arrived 15 minutes later and just missed the special. Mr. Doss was parked for 5 hours and paid $26. Mr. Little couldn’t leave until 15 minutes after Mr. Doss in order to keep the Early Bird Special, because the woman working in the parking lot was scary and told him that he had to wait or pay $26. What was the difference in the per hour cost of parking between Mr. Little and Mr. Doss?
